Bone chondroma

Chondroma of bone is a neoplasm of cartilaginous tissue, which is based on the outer surface of the structural part of the skeletal inclusions. It is distinguished by a benign course, never mutates into oncology and is easily amenable to removal without subsequent relapses. According to the cellular composition of the bone chondroma, this is a mature cartilage with a large number of hyaline cells. There are various localizations of the tumor process. The most common is the chondroma of the hand and the ribs. Approximately 10% of cases are chondromas of the bones of the lower extremities. The chondroma of the bones of the skull is much less common. Patients do not experience pain syndromes, the anatomy and functions of the affected bones do not suffer. An exception may be a chondroma in children at an early age( up to 5 years). In this case, the tumor can have a negative effect on the process of forming the skeleton.

Chondroma of the rib in the child

Chondroma of the rib can occur due to a fracture, injury, or birth injury. The chondroma of the rib in a newborn is more often diagnosed. The reason - the resulting injury during the passage of the birth canal. Although the cause of the appearance of a cartilaginous tumor can be a vaginal infection transferred in utero during the period of the laying of skeletal bones.

X-ray method is used for diagnosis. The picture shows a prominent internal cavity with a border from the physiological bone tissue. Most often there is a chondroma of a small round, round, regular shape of the rib.

For the treatment of kidney chondromes, the child uses a method of surgical removal at an early stage. This condition is fraught with an increased risk of fracture of the rib and trauma of the lung tissue.

Chondroma brush

Chondroma brush refers to the group of echondra that have a tight connection to a particular bone site, but the bulk is located on the outer surface. It is defined as a knot or bump on one or another bone of the hand. The causes of the attack - strokes, injuries, sprains of the ligamentous apparatus, diseases of small joints. As the development of the chondroma, the brush is able to accumulate calcium in its structure. This causes calcification, which makes the neoplasm similar in structure to the physiological bone tissue. This greatly complicates the process of removing the tumor. Therefore, the treatment of hand chondromas should be carried out early in the process of their detection. For diagnosis, a radiographic image is sufficient, on which a tumor with smooth and sharp edges with a large percentage of calcium is visible.

Chondroma in children and its photo

Recently, cases have become more frequent when the chondroma in children is diagnosed already in the newborn period. To determine the tumor, there are enough external symptoms that indicate an abnormal intrauterine development of skeletal bones. There is a neoplasm on the ribs, bones of the skull, tubular hollow bones of the lower limbs. The development of chondroma in children in the prenatal period is associated with a deficiency of nutrients in the mother's diet, violations of the regime by a pregnant woman, transmitted by viral and bacterial infections.

Acquired chondromas in children occur against a background of bruises, which result in injuries to cartilaginous tissue and periosteum. Improper medical care can also play a role. In particular, it is impossible to warm up a sore spot with bruises and use various types of lotions. Some methods and means of treating contusions can provoke undifferentiated growth of cartilage tissue cells.

Typical symptoms of chondroma

Quite often the symptoms of chondroma include frequent fractures, during the diagnosis of which such a pathology is detected. Pain syndrome is absent. It can be seen thickening of the costal arch, the appearance of cones on the head, in the region of the jaw or on the knee, ankle joint.

To detect the symptoms of chondromas, an X-ray examination is necessary. During the analysis of the obtained pictures, the doctor will be able to exclude the malignant etiology of the neoplasm.

Treatment and removal of chondromas

Despite the fact that the tumor is extremely slow growth, the treatment of chondromas should be carried out immediately after its detection. This is associated with a greater risk of damage to the integrity of the affected area of the bone, even with minor external trauma. Such fractures are very difficult and long to cure. Often, emergency surgery is used and Elizarov's apparatus is installed.

It is possible only surgical treatment of chondromas with the help of surgical intervention with the purpose of removing tumor neoplasm. All other methods are currently being tested and do not have certificates confirming their effectiveness.

The removal of the chondroma is performed under general anesthesia. The surgeon removes the tumor within the limits of his presence. Then, a cosmetic replacement with a bone graft or special substances that mimic a physiological bone structure is performed. In some cases it is justified to build up natural bone callus.

In any case, after the removal of the chondroma treatment is a long rehabilitation period. It is important to properly organize a diet so that it has enough protein and calcium. Children can be prescribed vitamin D.
